My dear cat, Lewis, who is only 14 years old, became extremely sick. Last Saturday we rushed him to the CSU Vet Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. It's about an hours drive from where we live. We had already spent $1000 on vet bills in Boulder, only to discover that his symptoms were getting worse.

Saturday night we checked him in. They wanted to do an ultrasound and some chest x-rays. Sadly we left Lewis (we call him Lu-Lu) there and waited by the phone. At about 4am we got a basic update, that he was stable. On Monday they did extensive tests and discovered all sorts of problems with his kidneys, his liver, and worst of all with his lungs. LuLu was already anorexic, and they decided to do surgery to remove some of his teeth. We were elated that surgery on his teeth might solve some of his most immediate issues.

On Tuesday, after the surgery I was called and told it went quite well. I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief. Unfortunately, an hour later I received the call he wasn't coming out of the anesthesia. Ugg! I drove down immediately and was faced with some awful decisions. His lungs were full of fluid, and it was really touch and go.

Amazingly, they stabilized my dear beloved cat. I swear I thought he was going to die. It was one of the most stressful and painful experiences of my life.

On Wednesday they called and said I should come get him. They thought he might have a better chance of eating at home. With chronic asthma and numerous health issues, we are currently nursing him at home. I've been successful in getting him to eat a bit, and he's been sleeping in my arms every night.

Please say a prayer for my little kitty who is my best friend.

Thanks everyone,

Tara

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.taragreen.com/home/2008/2/27/march-2008.html"><rss:title>March 2008</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.taragreen.com/home/2008/2/27/march-2008.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

My daughter Emma enjoying RT's February issue. In my opinion, you are never too young to start reading romance. From fairytales like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, young readers are introduced to the magic of love and romance quite young. My two daughters love to dress up like Princess' and various male stand ins like cousins and brothers will play the part of the prince. It doesn't matter who! The point is that the Princess is to be cherished and is allowed to wear dresses whenever they want.

As a person grows older the idea of romance can become tainted. I know personally I was a romantic (and still am) but after going through many disappointing relationships as a teen and in my early twenties, realized you have to look at romance through realistic eyes. The first goal is to find your Prince! Sadly, many men treat woman quite poorly and disrespectfully. I'm sure many of you can relate to this. Perhaps that is why so many of us read romance, to discover again and again that romance can and does exist. There is nothing like a happy ending to lift our spirits.

For March, I wish you a wonderful start to Spring! I am ready for the flowers to bloom and already I hear birds chirping in the mornings. I love when the season of growing is upon us once more.

Tara

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.taragreen.com/home/2008/2/8/february-2008.html"><rss:title>February 2008</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.taragreen.com/home/2008/2/8/february-2008.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Monthly Letter To Readers</dc:subject>

Happy Valentine's Day!

This month I've begun outlining my book tentatively titled "A VORTEX OF SWIRLING BUTTERFLIES". You can expect to see great warrior dogs named murgos, an inspiring hero, and epic scenes that will take your breath away (and hopefully it won't be a gasp of disappointment);-). It is looking like this particular book will not be a romance, but perhaps that might change. It will definitely have romantic elements but will romance will not be central. This month is special as it is my sweetheart's birthday. We will celebrate at the very wonderful and exciting Olive Garden, which is my kids favorite restaurant. Since I've been on a diet most of the month (I've lost 20 lbs!) I'm also a judge for the Golden Heart Contest with RWA. Luckily I have until March 2008 to read all the entries.

For Christmas, I got a great new toy - an ipod touch. I'm also now working with a really talented author named Charlotte Hughes as her online marketing assistant. I'm loving every second of it. There are some authors who are so classy and considerate, and she is one of them. Believe me, they all aren't like that. ;-)

I will post a proper letter to readers next month. My husband's father died after being diagnosed 6 months ago with lung cancer. We were hopeful that we would have some more time with him but that was not to be. My in-laws reside in Southampton, England while we are in the States. At this time, the distance has never seemed greater. With his passing, I feel great sadness for my daughters, who will not be able to spend more precious time with him. My father in-law was a great grandpa, full of humor, and always willing to help. He made a wonderful curry and was always helping me in the kitchen. I will be sure to tell my children of how much he loved them.

To my friends and readers: Take this time to hug the ones you love and live every day to its fullest. I hope those that stumble upon my website will feel comfortable enough to post comments to any blog message I have here. I am also adding a message board today, and I invite you to post there as well.
